Jazz @ the Lairgate
With a provenance stretching back to at least the mid 1970s, this outfit was founded by cornet player Jeff Boanas and originally called the 19:19 Band, residing at the legendary"Nellie's," The White Horse Inn in Beverley for many years.
After numerous changes in line-up and a new name, the Climax Jazz & Blues Band has been based at the Lairgate Hotel, Beverley since 2011.

Sadly, the Lairgate Hotel, Beverley, closed in doors at the end of January 2025. Together with it's sister venue the Bell Hotel in Driffield, both had provided a home for jazz in East Yorkshire over many years. Jazz in Hull offers grateful thanks to mine hosts George & Rita who supported jazz, both traditional and modern, through their sheer love of the music. We wish them both a long and happy retirement.
